Circular recovery

Reduce, reuse, refurbish, recycle

Rematt’s sustainability model prioritises keeping mattresses and their materials in productive use rather than treating them as waste.

Landfill & Incineration Diversion

The supplied Shopify content notes that the UK disposes of approximately 8 million mattresses every year, with the majority going to landfill or incineration. Rematt’s collection model is designed to divert collected mattresses from those routes.

Recycling Figures

Rematt tracks and reports on mattresses processed, with the aim of recovering the majority of suitable materials and returning them to supply chains.

The Waste Hierarchy

Reduce, Reuse, Refurbish, Recycle. Mattresses are assessed for refurbishment before they are considered for material recovery.

CO2 Reduction

Local manufacturing, spring-unit refurbishment and end-of-life mattress recycling are used to reduce material demand and the footprint associated with the supply chain.

Material Recovery

Steel, foam, fibre and fabric are separated and redirected where suitable, either into manufacturing supply chains or secondary-use applications.

Circular Manufacturing

ReSprung closes part of the loop by refurbishing reclaimed spring units from collected mattresses and incorporating them into newly manufactured products.
